We all know the lazy, moronic, ignorant, immature and 1950's-style homophobic question that hack from GQ Australia asked TayTay.

Really Mr. GQ writer? I’m curious, will you be asking all of the handsome actors I’ve ever had the privilege of working with or meeting if I made passes at them as well? I’d love to be there when you ask Sean Penn that same question. Or, Mr. GQ writer, were you projecting your own unprofessional desires onto me and Gus? Perhaps? Or worse still, are you a homophobe? Above and beyond this clear attack on my character, I’m shocked that GQ would allow their writer to lean on the scurrilous, outdated stereotype that gay men are by nature sexual predators. I mean, would you have asked this same question if it were Diablo Cody and Kathryn Bigelow at dinner with Mr. Lautner? Leaning on lies, myths and stereotypes about gay people is hateful, harmful and outdated. It’s not the 1950s anymore GQ, it’s 2011 and it’s time to grow up.

8, the play he penned about Prop 8:

“I don’t ever want to make a dime off it. It should always benefit the community in two ways. One, any money that does ever come out of it goes towards this equality movement, and I’ll ensure that happens. And, two, it’s a communication tool. I think [the trial] was one of the most truthful, illuminating three weeks in the history of our movement. In that way this play isn’t just documentation—it’s a rallying cry for people to support this landmark case and to know how landmark it was. We need to have evidence of it, to share it, and shed light on the truth of who we are and why we’re asking for what we’re asking for.”

And, his J. Edgar (Hoover) screenplay:

“We all wanted to find out what really happened. What was his sexuality. What did it look like. I wanted to get to the truth of his political work and the things that deserve applause and things that were heinous. The gay stuff was only ever going to be a third of it. It’s not Milk, but it’s there. When I finished a draft I liked, and think I got to what the truth is, it’s a story that reflects what gay life was like pre-Stonewall, which was very different from what it looked like for Harvey Milk. That’s the script Clint and the studio read and I’ll tell you what—not only did Clint and the studio never cut or change a word, they never had a note about it. Clint said some things that were so incredibly moving that he understood the struggle young gays go through today. If anything, Clint made it even more human and universal.”

Dusty Cakes has been busy with his theatrical script 8, a play based on the Proposition 8 trail.

DLB took the transcripts from the trial and distilled them into a 90-minute play.

A staged reading will take place on Broadway in September. Then a production will be showcased at Carnegie Mellon University, Northwestern and in Massachusetts.

Joe Mantello plans to direct the staged reading at the Eugene O'Neill Theater on September 19.

The New York Times reports:

The play consists mostly of verbatim dialogue and statements from the trial transcript, Mr. Black said, as well as his own observations from sitting in the courtroom most days and interviewing people on both sides of the case.

Roughly a dozen people from the trial are portrayed as characters, including Theodore B. Olson and David Boies, the lawyers for the two gay couples who sued California over the ban; Charles J. Cooper, the lead defense counsel; Kristin M. Perry and Sandra B. Stier, a lesbian couple who were among the plaintiffs; and the judge, Vaughn R. Walker of the Federal District Court for the Northern District of California.

Quips Black: “One of my hopes about the trial was to get the opposition in court, hands raised swearing to tell the truth, and have the world see the opposition called to account for going on TV saying gay people harm children, harm families ....... Since the trial itself wasn’t heard or seen, I wanted to get that story out another way.....I mined the best arguments on both sides, trying to capture everything on their side that was a winning point and anything on our side that was a winning point....."

SAY WHAT?

I hope that every state will do what New York did on Friday, but I know that a solely state-by–state solution could mean years of pain, decades of waiting, and too many of my LGBTQ brothers and sisters left behind. A solely state-by-state solution sends a government sanctioned message to the bigots and bullies that in some states it’s OK to treat LGBT people as undeserving of equal rights. And worse still, a solely state-by-state solution will always be subject to political winds and will therefore never feel permanent.

Mr. President, please consider the LGBTQ children living in Mississippi, Arkansas, and in my home state of Texas. Are their lives less worthy of protection than those in New York, Massachusetts, and Iowa?

If the civil rights of this country’s minorities are left to the states, then this will become a checkerboard nation where some areas are free and some areas are not free. Children in some states will be told to lift their heads high and others will be told they are second-class citizens, less than, and that their love and their future families are not worthy of this nation’s protection and admiration.

Oliver Stone sits down for a one-on-one with Dusty Cakes for the new Interview magazine.

Dusty has finished a script for Clint Eastwood, Hoover and made his directorial debut with  What's Wrong with Virginia?

BLACK: I'm going to let Clint [Eastwood] decide what he wants to do with the film, but the script is done. I didn't find a lot of proof that Hoover cross-dressed. I think it was more a form of homophobia against him. Do I think J. Edgar Hoover was gay? Yes. Do I think he cross-dressed? No. I think that was just one of the ways people tried to bash him because they probably had the sense that he was gay. Did he ever put on a dress? Hell, I put on my mom's undergarments when I was a kid. I didn't find much credible evidence that Hoover went out socially dressed up in women's clothes. But a script is 90 percent research about the person, and then so much about yourself ends up being in there, too. Anyone who says a movie about history is a historical document is crazy. It's a document that incorporates who that person was and who I am now.

STONE: Milk was a hero to many people. What attracted you to Hoover?

BLACK: The attraction to Milk was pretty obvious. He's a father figure. I thought it might be worth investigating the opposite of Milk-what a cautionary historical figure would be like. This is a tale of a closet case, as opposed to an inspirational tale of a man brave enough to come out. It's almost the flip side. I'm always interested in getting to know people, and that means vilified people as much as those celebrated. You find out that heroes aren't always so heroic, and villains have some bit of humanity in them. As much as I went into this project not really liking Hoover and feeling upset with so much of what he did and what civil rights he violated, there is a person there, a human being. If you don't humanize him and try to show why he did the things he did, then you are left with this cardboard figure of Hoover-whether it's one with the "G-Man" machine gun or in a dress. I wanted to figure out who the guy really was.

The Oscar-winning screenwriter is editing his latest vehicle What's Wrong with Virginia in the Big Apple.  Adds the openly gay Hollywood Velvet Mafia member:   "I came here to edit the movie because I would like to live here,"

Now finding a suitable place to set up house is the killer.  Quips the sexy scribe:  I'm currently looking for a place to live. So if anyone has any tips on how to find a place, I could use them.....It's more, like, finding the place. I'm spoiled, I'm used to L.A. [where] there's like a million places open at any given time. And you come here, and it's like a hunt...I have hope; I'll find it.

"Hope College’s Sexuality Roundtable’s request to host Hollywood screenwriter Dustin Lance Black as a speaker on campus has been denied by the college administration. According to the Sexuality Roundtable, Hope cited two reasons for its decision: 'Black’s advocacy would be too strong for campus,' and 'Black would ‘polarize’ the campus,'" covers The Anchor.

IN MAD PURSUIT:

Milk Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black has hired law  firm Lavely & Singer.

The firm is going after Starlife.com and its proprietors (the suit alleges the site distributed photos and possesses a video) of Black and Jeff Delancey having sex, sans condemn as documented.  The terms "invasion of privacy" and "copyright infringement" are being used.

The suit was filed July 23; Black denies knowing illicit pictures were taken of him while sexing it up...he allegedly seemed  aware a camera was present but Black claims naivete to have known it was aimed "down there."

What Black wants:  Starslife.com and staff--including Michael Lawrence, who the suit claims stole the pictures from Jeffrey Delancey's computer ----- cannot ever distribute the pornographic images again; $3 million dollars and all profits made from the release of these pictures turned over to Black; a jury trial.

More than likely to save time and embarrassment, a settlement will probably be reached to avoid a jury trail.
