Remember Elian Gonzalez?
González's mother had drowned in late 1999 while attempting to leave Cuba with her son and her boyfriend to the United States. The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) initially placed González with paternal relatives in Miami, who sought to keep him in the United States against his father's demands that González be returned to Cuba. A federal district court's ruling that only González's father, and not his extended relatives, could petition for asylum on the boy's behalf was upheld by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. After the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear the case, González was taken from his relatives at gunpoint and returned to Cuba in June 2000.
Elian turns 18 today.

E! + D.B. = TV NEWS
David Burtka has inked a huge contractual deal with E! Entertainment Television.
The celebrity-centric network has locked David Burtka into a talent deal. Under the pact, he will serve as correspondent for E! News, as well as Live from the Red Carpet and other E! specials. He will begin his duties in January.
For E! News, Burtka will conduct celebrity interviews and cover pop culture events and breaking news. The latter is part of a growing initiative under chairwoman Bonnie Hammer to be a bigger player in the competitive breaking news landscape.

HAPPY TRAILS
Our regular readers already know that TNT is rebooting the series Dallas for a post-millennial debut. We posted that news back on October 9, 2009
Summer 2012 is the target date.
With some old regulars (Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray and Larry Hagman) on board, the series has added some new faces like Josh Henderson (John Ross Ewing 3) and Jesse Metcalfe (Christopher Ewing).
