FROM VIRAL TO MAINSTREAM

It Gets Better: What started out as a viral campaign, the brainchild of sexy Seattle scribe Dan Savage and husband Terry Miller, is turning into a momentous global phenomena.

Many people have recorded videos for the project, telling gay youths that life gets better after public/private school, especially for a bullied teen.

And now...

Google Chrome airs this It Gets Better ad during tonight's episode of Glee.

An ad on nationwide television!!

An ad that all began as a small project to help gay teens. A viral project that went from a simple You Tube channel to, now, a network channel.

Kudos to Savage and kudos to Google for spending big corporate funds in a wise and positive manner!!

'IT GETS BETTER'

To address the suicide of little Billy Lucas, 15, Dan Savage creates a podcast to voice to LGBT teens that life gets better.  Savage wants to assure them that no matter how dire their young lives seem there is hope for the future.

The Advocate details:

The "It Gets Better" Project is inspired by the suicide of 15-year-old Indiana teenager Billy Lucas, who hanged himself last week in his family's barn after enduring bullying from his classmates. After writing a post on The Slog about Lucas's death last week, one commenter expressed a desire to have spoken to him to tell him that things get better.

Savage, in his September 21 Savage Love podcast, said he felt the same way and decided to address the problem. The project is a YouTube channel where LGBT adults can upload videos targeted at gay teens to let then know their future can still be bright.

Savage is with his husband in this video.
