In today's Sunday Styles section of The New York Times, the wedding of Patrick Abner and Thomas Roberts is announced.


“I was warned, ‘[Patrick Abner] has a face that will slay you,’ ” Mr. Roberts said in a phone interview. “And it did. I remember thinking, ‘I’ve never met or seen anybody like this.’ I was very nervous around him. I didn’t know how to compose myself.” 

 As it happened, the man in question, Patrick Abner, also 27, felt the same way.

 “I thought: ‘There is no way this guy is gay. I can’t be this lucky,’ ” said Mr. Abner, who lived in Charlotte at the time. “There were sparks, but I played my cards close to the chest. I was a bit guarded.”

Thomas Roberts and Patrick Abner, both 39, released their official engagement photo.

The wedding date is set for September 29, 2012.

The two have been together for 12 years.

Like most grooms, Roberts has a target weight he wants to reach before the big day:

“You have to live with wedding pictures for a lifetime.... want to look damn good. I think all people do.....I’ve definitely trimmed down. I gain weight like a tree trunk – I grow wider in all areas.”

A dream come true:

“It’s been hard to dream of a day like today. I’ve had to play catch up in my head, in a lot of ways, to realize that this is achievable.”

A South American honeymoon will follow.

Congrats to the happy couple and we wish them a life filled with happiness and prosperity!!

The Heroes & History Makers Gala Saturday night drew some major celebs out for the night.

The event was to raise awareness for same-sex marriage and build forces against Proposition 8.

Roberts is shown with his tight squeeze, Patrick Abner.

Yes, Roberts used to host Headline News.  

This is how good my gaydar is:   it would ring a FIERCE alarm everytime I saw him on HN and this was WAY before he came out bitches!!
