The New York Times reports: Ryan Lochte captured his fifth gold medal on the final day of the world swimming championships with a performance that may help him stake a claim to being the best in his sport.
Lochte, who beat his teammate Michael Phelps in two finals earlier this week, easily won the 400-meter individual medley Sunday in 4 minutes 7.13 seconds.
Phelps, who has dominated swimming for more than a decade, was overshadowed by Lochte here but he also seemed to return to form after a disappointing season last year.
Strong performances by Phelps and Lochte led an American swim team that dominated the championships’ eight days, with 16 gold medals and 29 over all.
According to the latest statement from the U.S. Treasury, the government had an operating cash balance Wednesday of $73.8 billion. That's still a lot of money, but it's less than what Steve Jobs has lying around.
Tech juggernaut Apple had a whopping $76.2 billion in cash and marketable securities at the end of June, according to its last earnings report. Unlike the U.S. government, which is scrambling to avoid defaulting on its debt, Apple takes in more money than it spends.

Apple has removed their iTunes store from the “Christan Values Network” (CVN.org) after more than 22,000 people signed a petition on Change.org started by Ben Crowther, a student and Apple customer concerned about CVN’s funding of anti-gay, anti-women organizations like Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council.
The Apple campaign, which picked up significant momentum after 13,000 AllOut.org members signed another petition on Thursday, follows Microsoft’s decision to leave CVN two weeks ago, prompted by another customer-driven campaign on Change.org. Several other companies have removed their online stores since then, including REI, Macy's, Delta Airlines, BBC America, and Wells Fargo.
“From the beginning, I knew that once this issue was brought to Apple's attention, they would not want to be a part of CVN because it funds anti-gay hate groups like Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council,” said Change.org petition starter Ben Crowther. “Apple is a fair-minded business. I'm glad this petition helped make Apple aware of this issue, and I am thrilled that they removed iTunes from CVN.”
"Everyone in Crazy, Stupid, Love is wonderful. Ryan Gosling is spectacular....Not only does he give a thoughtful, nuanced, sincere performance, but I’m pretty sure his torso will be nominated for an Academy Award......[The movie has]something for everyone” and “if none of those things are for you, there’s always Ryan Gosling’s abs. Seriously, that’s something everyone can enjoy.”

BTW: Ellen's brother Vance DeGenerous (House of Schock) produced the film.
