California senator Roy Ashburn was arrested on drunk driving charges after an officer saw a driver swerving in a Chevy Tahoe.
An unidentified man was in the vehicle along with Ashburn after leaving a popular Sacramento gay bar, Faces.
Senator Ashburn was charged with two misdemeanors: driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level higher than .08% or higher.
The senator was booked and released on a $1400 bond.
He's antigay because his voting record includes voting against a senate resolution to declare Proposition 8 unconstitutional and three votes against the creation of Harvey Milk Day.
In a boilerplate apology the hag retorts:
"I am deeply sorry for my actions and offer no excuse for my poor judgment. I accept complete responsibility for my conduct and am prepared to accept the consequences for what I did. I am also truly sorry for the impact this incident will have on those who support and trust me — my family, my constituents, my friends, and my colleagues in the Senate."
