What a visual delight when we opened this weekend's paper!

To "capture the excitement and the whimsy of Hollywood's special day" The Los Angeles Times commissioned  Oscar panels by masterful and deft illustrator Maurice Vellekoop.

We wish The Times did more of this!!

 

Vellekoop is one of our favorite artist, along with Glen Hanson and Allan Neuwirth  for Chelsea Boys, Robert Risko and Tim Sheaffer. 

We first caught wind of Vellekoop's work during the early-- and by early, we mean that first year it debuted--- days of the UK magazine Wallpaper.     Since the mid nineties and thereafter, Vellekoop has illustrated for a number of tony marquee titles, including Vogue, GQ and Time to name a few.

His ABC Book: A Homoerotic Primer is a must for any gay's bookshelf.
