Facebook members can use a knife icon to virtually "shank" other Facebook members.
This has some people in a fury.
The uncle of Harry Potter actor Rob Knox-- who was murdered via a stabbing trying to protect his younger brother----- said Facebook bosses should be arrested for allowing this internet knifing game of shanking.
Uncle John, 57, said that Facebook was disgusting and the game targets the teen set thugs who carry blades.
An anti-knife campaign group Urban Concepts has spoken up and a rep, Raymond Stevenson, quips, "it's appalling. We completely condemn it."
Facebook allows the virtual knife threat as part of its SuperPoke! application.
The SuperPoke! system is a teen favorite and more than a BILLION virtual actions have been sent--not only shanking but kisses, hugs and slaps are included in that figure.
The shank features allows a member to deliver the "attack" to any friend or stranger who has a profile on the networking site.
There is a virtual petition to sign for people who are offended and opposed to the "shanking" application on Facebook.
