The group headed by Billie Joe Armstrong will turn their album American Idiot into a stage adaption--whatever that would embody: musical, spoken word, ?????
BJA did write the show's book with Michael Mayer, from Spring Awakening.
The theater production will have the same feel as The Who's Tommy or Pink Floyd's The Wall:
"a nihilistic coming-of-age story drenched in post-9/11 paranoia" following "disaffected contemporary American Everykid Jesus of Suburbia as he morphs into violent, drug-dealing alter-ego St. Jimmy and falls for anarchist girlfriend Whatsername."
