What was the real reason TR Knight left Grey's Anatomy?
The out actor dished this and more in the new issue of Details magazine.
The huge line in the sand was that Knight didn't understand why it took the show's creater Shonda Rimes three months to comment/condemn on actor's Isaiah Washington's homophobic slur against TR. TR called it "frustrating." Also Knight suggested that Rimes wanted him to keep his sexuality hidden and not be out.
The final blow was these last seasons when he felt his character was diminished not only in screen time but story line: “My five-year experience proved to me that I could not trust any answer that was given [about his character, George]…It didn’t seem like an ebb to me. No other series regular’s character had ever disappeared like mine did this past season.”
And, don't expect the actor to reappear in a dream sequence, reunion atmosphere or cameo guest spot : "There just comes a time when it’s so clear that moving on is the best decision.”
