AXLAND

NBC axed Southland.

But, shopping the show to another broadcast or cable station could result in a positive turn for the sophomore drama and that is just what the show's producers are pursuing.

Only six episodes were shown of the police drama set in Los Angeles.  NBC brass watched the new eps for the second season and felt the drama was too dark and gritty for the 9pm Friday night slot.  Also, the drama was expensive to make; the Friday "low-trafficked" night would not have garnered the stay- at -home audience the network relished.

Producer John (ER) Wells quipped:    "I'm disappointed that NBC no longer has the time periods available to support the kind of critically-acclaimed series that was for so many years, a hallmark of their success.....We remain extremely proud of 'Southland' and are actively looking for another home for the series."

We hope another station does pick up the drama, try AMC??
