If you are an amateur blogger and you "review" free items that you received, the FTC is requiring you to disclose that or you could be fined up to $11,000.
You have to state in the review you got the item for free. If you paid for a product and you review it -- no disclosure for that.
Professional sites aren't subjected to this rule, of course, like Style.com or Gadget Lab.
