Tom Ford directorial debut has placed him in a spot to compete for Venice's 66th Film Festival Lion d'Or.
The former Gucci Creative Director has been immersed in his film, A Single Man.
Acting heavy weight Colin Firth is lead actor in the movie about a gay English professor that attempts to resume his daily life in Los Angeles after his partner dies.
Ford is credited as producer also.
Strong buzz has accompanied Ford and this film; the festival is in September 2-12 with the festival's decision to program his picture as an In Competition choice.
