Ask any of your straight friends just how many friends of the opposit sex they have and I think you'll be shocked. It's not that men and women don't like each other…it's that a tone of straight guys and girls don't run around calling each other their "Besties". If Evan is the hope for butching up skating, then I guess their standards for "Butch" mean "Not wearing a skirt and panties out on the ice".

If you have to be pretty to play for our team, Evan has been disqualified for technical reasons.
If playing it straight is the only thing that matters in men's figure skating, then Evan just made the Dumbass Squad. Nastia Liukin provided Evan with cover, and even said she's his girlfriend, which Evan quickly — if truthfully — denied.
If the Olympics were awarding a medal for being a Dumbass, Evan would at least score a Bronze for that one.

As for Evan – you guys are brutal. Lay off the man. He's not pretending to be anything but a figure skater. All this intrusion into his personal life is on the media and us, not him.

Sorry Taylor, but I'm not going to waste my time and energy getting freaked out defending somebody who won't admit he's gay. All of us have had to come out and most of us in circumstances MUCH more homophobic than the world of figure skating. Jonny Weir has based his entire career on saying that he is outrageous and "In your face" but then clams up like a 50 year old spinster when asked about his social life. Sorry, but no matter how flamboyant a person is…a closet case is still a closet case.

Whoever he's dating, he's been able to keep his private life pretty much off the radar. I bet he is GLAD that Weir is the focus of the media attention more than him. His life is made easier by having Johnny capture the media frenzy.

I only meant that coming out for Johnny would redundant and pointless. The 'phobes already treat him like he's got a big ol' pink triangle on his forehead anyway, always have. I think Johnny Weir was born 'out'. And every time he steps onto the ice in a new pink ice-frock of his design, he comes out again.

Oh spare me your rant. If you actually read what I wrote rather than getting on your little high horse you would have seen that I never said he HAD to come out, what I basically said is that I wasn't going to waste any time defending somebody who people are claiming was discriminated against for being gay when he HASN'T come out. If he isn't out, then you can't say he was discriminated against for being gay and I would rather use my energy defending people that are actually brave enough to come out. I'm doing to worry about defending people like Dan Choi, or Matthew Mitcham, etc… who don't hide in the closet.

She didn't somehow get a job with Access Hollywood, she is working as a correspondent with ET. Can you not see the massive logo on the video? You'd have to be blind as a bat to miss that.
And why not save the sarcasm about her gig as a correspondent? After all, she was a very talented figure skater, and was famous for her talent, as much as her infamous incident in the early 90s.
It's not a surprise for entertainment shows or even news shows to have a former athlete as a correspondent for the Olympic games! What's the problem? It's not as if she is a war correspondent. She can talk about what she knows best – figure skating.

Hard to get a read on Lysacek.
Like I said, he could be straight, gay, bisexual or asexual. [that last group has been mostly ignored by people who research human sexuality, and I've only run into a few].
There *are* straight men with some "effeminate" mannerisms. Guy who used to cut my hair was widely assumed to be gay because of job, his voice, his clothes. He wasn't uncomfortable around gay men, didn't announce —or hide—the fact he was happily heterosexual. Evan may or may not be gay, but he's not playing the "straight card" too convincingly.
Once Weir has moved on to his next career, Lysacek might miss having someone else being the center of media's obsession with who "plays for which team."

he had an NBC profile air during his competition that literally said he was dating that chick, that he even took her home to meet the family, which was rare or a first, I forget.
If he says later that he's not dating, then I'd say he slipped and is indeed gay.
Im willing to bet the guys on here that said he's not handsome are as bitter and ugly as that russian gargoyle. :P

Isn't it interesting that people on this blog will yell and scream when abybody stereotypes gays as acting "Femmy" and yet I'm supposed to get up in arms and defend somebody…not because he has ever come out as gay…but because he fullfills the same stereotype that people keep saying is unfair. Weir keeps telling anybody who will listen how outrageous he is. Fine Johnny, come out of the closet, thats much braver than putting a pink tassle on your outfit, or comparing a routine to snorting coke, and calling it outrageous.
