Eileen Herlie with fellow actors
The memory floodgates are opening...
Opal running the Glamarama, smacking her gum, and sayin, "Jenny, honna...."
Jenny with Greg, wanting to go to NYC; Angie and Jessie, and mean ol Liza.
And there was Eileen Herlie playing Myrtle Fargate for All My Children in the mix of it all. Trying to keep tabs on everything and everyone in Pine Valley 24/7/365.
The actress was 90 when she passed away from complications due to pneumonia.
Usually the older actresses come from Broadway, like her peer Ruth Warwick, and Ms. Herlie was no exception. She has a Tony to her credit for her work on the Great Whiteway.
She was cast by the legendary Laurence Olivier for his film adaption of Hamlet, in her late 40's.
Our thoughts are with her brother and nieces and nephews at this time.
