QUEEN DREAM:

".....the character played by Julianne Moore was 'quite literally based on my grandmother,' whose larger-than-life persona was so different from his childhood in New Mexico. ANCHOR CLUB

Dan Abrams, the former MSNBCer and BFF to that other sexy perennial bachelor David Zinczenko, may have an anchor gig at ABC.

The former legal eagle would bring his law knowledge to Good Morning America as an analysis and he may fill in as a weekend anchor on the show.

We're all about this!  We've missed seeing this cutie's face since the demise of his show Verdict with Dan Abrams (pre-Rachel Maddow era).

Oh, and it also helps when your good friends with ABC News President Ben Sherwood!

ODE TO OUR TRUE LOVE

We aren't the only fans of James Franco, devoting a whole blog

blog space for posts about him.

Some fans pen poems of the thespian.

We so likey!!

Alex Dimitrov created this romantic sonnet; the lad is founder of Wilde Boys, a queer poetry salon in NYC.

This SOOOOOOOO beats cheesy fan mail to said actor!!
JAMES FRANCO I would sleep with James Franco as Allen Ginsberg and Allen Ginsberg would sleep with James Franco as James Dean. Woof, woof and a howl. James Franco makes me growl. At the office I think about James Franco as more than just performance art. At my desk and in my poems— I take him seriously, I write into him real hard. Woof, woof and a howl. I even like to watch James Franco scowl. Once at a New York loft party a famous poet said, “You are your author photo.” James Franco, James Franco, I love you.

LOVELINE 2.0

Our Seattle scribe Dan Savage has landed his own MTV pilot.

Kudos.

Keep it realz though, BeeBoo-- focus your audience to the LGBT crowd. You dispense advice from a gay guy's POV--- don't let MTV water you down!! The stupid breeder snatch already have their own show and get their advice from that heifer, the fat O.

Savage Love may be coming to MTV. Columnist Dan Savage is working on an advice show for the network. MTV has ordered a pilot that follows Savage as he tours college campuses giving his brand of brutally honest (and sometimes graphic) sex and relationship advice. In the format, Savage takes questions from an auditorium audience (similar to his recently completed college tour).

SUNDANCE SCREWY

To promote his film Three's Company:  The Drama, Jamie sings the show's theme for MTV News.

Franco's version is a little more adult oriented!!

Jamie stars as Jack.  The film remakes the series first three episodes.

WRITE ON

The New York Times Op-Ed editors asked writers what President Obama should outline in his State of the Union address this week.

Our sexy scribe Dan Savage submits:

I’m not an idiot: Now that the Republicans hold the House, only wishful thinkers and the deeply delusional expect to see any movement on the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender legislative agenda this year or next. Nevertheless, President Obama should address gay rights in his State of the Union speech this week, and he should tackle the biggest, most meaningful right of them all: the right to marry. [snip]

"He can assure the lawmakers that, yes, there’s something in it for Americans who disapprove of homosexuality too. Social conservatives long to raise their children in a country where they don’t have to hear about homosexuality every time they turn on the news. I’d like raise my son in a country like that too. And guess what? In countries like Canada — where the fight over gay rights is essentially over, where there is gay marriage, open military service and employment protections — homosexuality hardly ever makes the front pages of newspapers. There’s nothing much to report. Conservatives can’t get rid of us, but they can hear less from and about us. They just have to bend toward justice."

LET'S GET PETTY

Valentine

You know that I'm
Fighting for this love in vain
The sun's been shining for a week
But it just feels like rain, Valentine

I know you're not mine
And I don't know why you stay
But when those hearts and flowers fade
Oh my darlin' look my way (yeah...)

LOW LIFE:

"People still just think Zoolander, and to come out with your pride and dignity intact is probably quite hard in this business. Now there are younger guys coming in who want to be models. I'm actually proud to say I'm a model now. You pay your dues of not being listened to, but now people are starting to say, 'Maybe this guy's onto something.'...Trust me to end up working in the only industry in the world where women get paid more than men, and treated loads better. We're trying to change that. In the hierarchy of a shoot, you have the photographer, the female model, the stylists, the assistants, then the male model. You are the lowest of the low," explains David Gandy.

ARE YOU KIN FOLK?

RAISING ARIZONA

RAISING SCARLETT & RHETT:

From the US Census, more gays are raising children in the South than the popular urban states, like New York and California.

One theory making the rounds is that these families with children are products from a first heterosexual marriage then a spouse comes out as gay and finds a same-sex partner/husband/significant other.....

Child rearing among same-sex couples is more common in the South than in any other region of the country, according to Gary Gates, a demographer at the University of California, Los Angeles. Gay couples in Southern states like Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas are more likely to be raising children than their counterparts on the West Coast, in New York and in New England. The pattern, identified by Mr. Gates, is also notable because the families in this region defy the stereotype of a mainstream gay America that is white, affluent, urban and living in the Northeast or on the West Coast.

CORRECTION

Yesterday, we reported on the premature death of Lance Lundsten.

His death may have been a result of an enlarged heart (coronary edema), not suicide (like we thought).

The Echo Press reports:

......he died from cardiac edema, a condition caused by an enlarged heart.

There was no evidence that drugs or alcohol played any role in the death, according to a family member interviewed by the newspaper. The family was told that it would be six to eight weeks before complete toxicology results are determined.

As always, our pro-gay vigilant and very opinionated Dan Savage peppers this tragic event with:

Lundsten's death is a tragedy however he died—and no one has disputed the fact that Lundsten was gay, out, and bullied at his high school, a school with anti-bullying programs and policies that do not cover or address anti-gay bullying. That Lundsten's friends—who were quoted in the first reports about his death—immediately concluded that his death was a suicide, and that the bullying he endured at his rural high school was a contributing or determinative factor, is evidence that Jefferson High School has a bullying problem regardless.

Go get em Danny Tiger.  We need more pro gay voices like Dan, always piping up about bullying until it is completely stopped.  OUT, GAY and PROUD:  that's what stops homophobic bullying!  Not hiding in some cliched closet or behind some gross cunt!!!

CASTING NEWS

This Clint Eastwood "bio"-pic of Hoover is going to be off the chain!!  We wonder if his son, Scott Eastwood, will have a part??  For those that have not seen Scott, we'll tell ya:  HOT!!!

Dusty Cakes (Dustin Lance Black) wrote it.

Thespians inked to star:  Leonardo DiCaprio; Ed Weswick; Armie Hammer.

NOW--

Josh Lucas has signed on to play aviator Charles Lindbergh.

For the immediate future, we can look forward to seeing Lucas star opposite Matty Cakes (McConaughey) in The Lincoln Lawyer.

WHEN WILL THIS STOP?

Another gay teen committed suicide over the weekend.

Lance Lundsten, 18.

Around 10 p.m. Saturday the Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to an emergency call at the Lundsten's residence in Miltona. When officers arrived, they discovered 18-year-old Lance Lundsten needing emergency medical care. Lundsten was transported to the Douglas County Hospital where he later died. The Sheriff's Office confirmed to KSAX that they believed Lundsten's death was a suicide. The Sheriff would not confirm the nature of the medical emergency. According to his Facebook page, Lundsten was openly gay. On a Facebook memorial page in Lundsten's honor, friends said that Lundsten had been bullied at school for his sexual orientation. Some students who knew Lundsten believed the bullying may have led to his suicide.

Joe.My.God reports:

Lundsten's classmates have launched an anti-bullying Facebook page. Sen. Al Franken sent his condolences to the family, saying, "My heart goes out to Lance's family, and friends and loved ones. It's a tragic event, not only for them, but for the school, and the Alexandria community and really for all of us. LGBT kids really do need more protection." Franken is the cosponsor of a federal anti-bullying bill called the Student Non-Discrimination Act, which would forbid schools from ignoring anti-gay bullying. Christianist groups are vehemently opposing the bill.

SAY WHAT?

BARK AND BITE:

"His daughter said something that was very interesting.......You know, people try to make it about black and white. He talked about equality for every man, every woman. We have a thing going on now — people discriminating against homosexuality in this country. I love the homosexuality people. God bless the gay people. They are great people," in remembrance for Martin Luther King, Charles Barkley slams Bernice King and homophobia.

WORK!

For the record: Barkley first came out in favor of gay rights in August 2006 and said, "I'm a big advocate of gay marriage. If they want to get married, God bless them." In February 2008, Barkley slammed evangelicals and Republicans as "hypocrites" and "fake Christians" for opposing marriage equality.

We've always liked Barkley, especially making us laugh on those sports talk shows.

After this comment, we LOVE him!!

CUMCAST & NBC-YA

THIS CAN'T BE GOOD.....

That much talked about merger really did come to fruition.

Did KKR have anything to do with this, since they usually have their bony, liver-spotted claws on most of the big corporate (ill-fated) mergers???  Oh, we kid, calm down....

Comcast and NBC will merge since the FCC gave its blessing:

The $37 billion merger between the companies has been a long time coming. The deal, which was first announced in 2009, provides Comcast with a 51 percent controlling stake in NBC Universal. General Electric will retain the remaining 49 percent. When the deal was first announced, the companies hoped to have it accepted by regulatory bodies at the end of 2010. However, over the course of the last year, the companies faced increasing concerns that their merger might unfairly impact competing content providers and harm consumers. The Department of Justice, which is also evaluating the merger with regard to antitrust rules, is also expected to vote to approve the joint venture. Both the Justice Department and that FCC stamps of approval are needed before the deal to form the joint venture can close.

Welcome to Kabletown....

HA!
