We kept hearing chatter about this all day but nothing solid until now....
Three-time world champion surfer Andy Irons has perished; some sources claim it was dengue fever.
Three-time world surfing champ Andy Irons has died, according to online reports.
The 32-year-old three time World Champ is said to have died from dengue fever in Dallas, while travelling back home to Hawaii, according to ESPN.com.
ESPN says sources close to the surfer have confirmed the death.
Irons was a dominant surfer through out the 2000s, along with his three world titles he also holds 19 world tour victories and is the only surfer in the world to win at every location on the tour.
ESPN says he is considered by many to have been the only true rival to nine-time World Champion Kelly Slater.
Our hearts are broken over this story. Our thoughts go out to his family. Such a young soul taken from us way too soon.
